Professor Pat Thompson’s two part blog posts on academic CV writing
Pat Thomson is Professor of Education in the School of Education at The University of Nottingham, UK, and is one of the academics we follow keenly both on Twitter and on her blog Patter. She writes about everything from her research to career advice for early career researchers to general musings about life.
In searching on-line for relevant advice for academics as you prepare and update your CV for for a selection committee, or for a promotion, or for a grant application, we came across her two blog posts on the subject. She approaches the subject from two angles, firstly that you are telling a story about your career to date and secondly that what you say on your CV should also show where you would like to go. There are critiques and suggestions of how you can achieve both as you prepare and review your CV.
